Kloeber became interested in becoming a Carbon Neutral Company through their ongoing relationship with Daren Howarth, Director of C-Level, during the construction of his innovative eco project The Groundhouse in Brittany.
The Groundhouse was featured on the Channel 4 TV Programme, Grand Designs in February 2009 and included six sets of Kloeber’s timber bifold doors on the front of the property and Daren has recently added another set to the cottage he owns next door to The Groundhouse site.
Daren is passionate about the environment and his pioneering consultancy helps businesses achieve Carbon balanced status. This is through climate change action and communications by delivering practical action through carbon balancing and telling your company story via short films on business response to climate change. He helps both small and large organisations support forest communities around the world.
Kloeber achieved certification to confirm they are a Carbon Balanced organisation managing their carbon footprint through forest protection with the Hadza in the Yaeda Valley, Tanzania.
Carbon Balanced organisations work with forest communities to balance climate impact, protect ecosystems and support communties impacted most by climate change.
Carbon Balancing has been achieved through triple benefit Plan Vivo certificates each accounting for 1 tonne of CO2, while also providing benefits to the local community deliverying the project and helping protect ecosystems on which they depend.
Matt Higgs, Sales Director and co-owner of Kloeber said ‘As a growing company with strong ethics we feel it’s important to look at our impact on the environment both locally and globally. We’ve all heard the terms ‘Carbon Neutral’/’Carbon footprint’/Carbon Balancing’ but rarely do we put as much effort into achieving these goals as we should. After speaking and collaborating with Daren at C-Level we know how easy it is to make a difference and are convinced that a carbon reduction strategy will become standard business practice in the future.’
