You may have recently spied our guide to French doors, breaking down all of your frequently asked questions and discussing this popular glazing solution. Thanks to their timeless design, and a wide variety of options available, they’re an increasingly popular choice for self-builders, renovators and home improvers!

Chic and elegant, French doors are ideal for all types of properties – from contemporary self-builds to more traditional cottages too so, to hopefully provide you with a little home inspiration and some design ideas, we’re showcasing some of our favourite French door installations! Let’s go…

10 – Georgian bars

Georgian bars are having a comeback! We loved this installation featuring our timber French doors in grey, they definitely give off a New York industrial-inspired loft vibe! A fabulous alternative to bifold or sliding doors, and perfect for letting that natural light flood through the home.

9 – A touch of grey

French doors don’t just have to be black or white! The world is your oyster when it comes to colours, and purchasing your French doors with us at Kloeber means you can select from any RAL colour OR from a range of wood stains. So you could go for a bluey grey shade just like this customer did! We LOVE.

8 – Three’s…not a crowd

This beautiful home benefits from not one, but three sets of bespoke Kloeber French doors! With windows to match, the glazing really does elevate this property and creates an inviting and social living space. Leading out onto the patio seating area to create that flow from inside to out, ideal for social butterflies!

7 – Contrasting materials

Our aluminium French doors look great in contrast to the wood detailing on this property. Adding extra texture, the combination of materials gives this house a warm yet modern feel. Paired with fixed glazing to enable even more light into the home, this customer can now enjoy a light and airy living space opening up onto the patio. Perfect for summer BBQs and family gatherings!

6 – Beautiful balcony

This stunning property really makes the most of its beautiful balcony with French doors leading onto lovely views of the outdoor space. The ground floor also benefits from additional light into the home, and a seamless transition from inside to out thanks to a combination of our bifold and French doors. A house designed for entertaining, the use of glazing really enables this customer to integrate their patio space and create a harmonious flow from indoor living to garden. We approve!

5 – A natural vibe

Our composite alu-clad French doors blend in perfectly with the natural vibe of this home – with the ability for you, and this customer, to enjoy the insulating benefits of timber, but with a hard wearing aluminium exterior, we think this is the perfect Sunday afternoon reading spot, if we ever did see one!

3 -Modern living

There is sometimes an assumption that French doors are a glazing style best suited to more traditional properties, but this is certainly not the case! Although classic in design, French doors are also a stylish option for modern homes. Just check out this contemporary home with not one but two sets of our beautiful grey French doors! Don’t they look great? We may be biased, but, we think so!

2 – French or Bifold?

A commonly asked question from our clients is – French or Bifold Doors? Well, if you really can’t decide, how about a combination of stunning French doors and fixed glazing to replicate the look of bifolds but without the accordion opening? If bifolds aren’t logistically an option for you, this is might be just the solution! A contemporary take on a classic design, you can enjoy a modern look, plenty of light and that bifold inspired look – just like this one.

1 – A contemporary twist

One of our favourite projects to date is this stunning thatched cottage extension. Beautiful, unusual and challenging all rolled into one, the outcome of this project is simply breathtaking. Creating the curved glazing in line with the extension roof was certainly an interesting task but thanks to our team of engineers, we were able to fit both glazing and French doors to absolute perfection. A modern take on French doors, this is definitely a dream home! Read the full case study here.
