A New Year means new home trends and plenty of inspiration to dive into for home improvements, or to inspire you for your renovation or self-build project! Wondering what trends will be big for 2022? From materials to lighting and colour schemes, we’ve rounded up the ones to look out for below!

Incorporate natural materials

Expect to see a huge shift to natural materials in 2022, with an increase in individuals adopting a more responsible approach to their interior design. Searches for eco-friendly home design and ideas are on the rise, so you can expect to see this reflected in elements such as flooring and furniture trends. Natural wood is a great choice for the home, as not only is it an environmentally-friendly material, it adds both warmth and a calming vibe to a property. Did you know here at Kloeber, many of our glazing products are available in FSC-certified timber?

Increase the natural lighting

We’ve seen a huge shift to home working in the past couple of years, and given how much time we are now all spending at home, natural light has become even more important! For an increase in productivity and mood, natural light is key, and there are various ways to open up your home to extra light with your glazing.

If your space doesn’t lend itself to patio doors, why not consider fixed glazing? This is ideal for those more awkward spaces, and can drastically increase the light in your living spaces, just check out these examples:

Rooflights are another great option, and will allow the light to flood in from above, perfect for your home office space. At Kloeber we offer two different options – pitched rooflights and flat rooflights.

You may also consider opening up a wall of your home with bifold or sliding doors. Our ÜberSlide sliding door offers wide glass panels and minimal sightlines, which allows a large amount of light to flood through the home. Alternatively, bifold doors are another great option, and whilst the frame is bigger there is the option to fully open them thanks to the accordion-style design. Perfect for the summer months!

Black accents

Another key trend for 2022 is black accents within your home, adding an industrial edge to your interior design. Incorporate this through items such as coffee tables, lamps, and vases. For bigger nods to the trend, why not consider a stylish upgrade to your glazing – just like this customer, who opted for a combination of our Heritage range and glazing with the addition of georgian bars. The black pops, contrasts against the wood and looks stunning.

Mindful spaces

Expect to see a focus on efficient and versatile spaces within the home, again, a product of the shift in lifestyle over the past couple of years. This has led many of us to make changes around the home to accommodate a much-needed home working area or kitchen that can also double-up as an office! If you’re considering how you can make the most of your existing space, but don’t wish to undertake any large-scale building work, why not consider how you can divide a room with internal bifold doors? You can partition off a section of your living or dining room to create a separate workspace, it’s a cost-effective alternative to building one!

Think earthy tones

Alongside natural materials, expect to see an abundance of earthy and bold tones with plenty of brown, copper and rust colours coming into play. This trend can be easily incorporated into your existing home interior through accessories such as throws, cushions, vases, and even a statement chair. These colours will add plenty of warmth and depth to your interior design and will work in harmony with any natural wood features.

Go vintage

With a focus on the environment, join the many homeowners who are seeking out vintage furniture rather than buying new. It’s amazing what you can find, and it’s likely it will be unique to you and your home! Adding interest to your interiors, it’s the more sustainable option, and there’s also the opportunity to give an old piece of furniture a new lease of life with a lick of paint. Don’t be afraid to mix old with new. Head to your nearest salvage yard or antique outlet and get searching for treasure.
