Are you planning a kitchen extension? If the answer is yes, it’s natural that you’ll want to design a kitchen that makes people go ‘wow’ as well as creating a space that enhances your daily life. With so much inspiration at our fingertips, it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming when it comes to making those final decisions! Colour schemes, worktops, cupboard design, island or no island? It can seem as though there are endless elements of a kitchen design to consider.

Fortunately, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite previous client projects to help you along your journey to your dream kitchen!

Work in harmony with your garden

Does your kitchen lead out onto your garden? If so, when it comes to choosing your kitchen floor, you might want to consider how this might work with your outdoor space. If you want to blur the boundaries between inside and out, then selecting a floor tile that you can follow through to your patio works really well. Just ensure the threshold is level to achieve the best result. This client did just that, and teamed with our aluminium KustomFold bifold doors, they are able to create that much-desired seamless transition!

Allow for extra light

If natural light is one of your key objectives, you’re probably considering what style of patio door to integrate into your kitchen extension but have you considered fixed glazing alongside your bifold or sliding doors? If the space allows, you can open up your home to even more light just like this customer has who teamed up their bifold doors with three fixed glazing panels! Creating a comfortable living space that’s light and mood-enhancing.

Add an industrial-style edge

Add a real statement to your kitchen with your glazing choices! Our aluminium French doors with glazing bars are sure to add the wow factor to your space. You can also add our glazing bars to bifold doors too if this is the style of door you’re leaning more towards. This look works well in both period and modern properties, adding a beautiful, timeless feature. Other ways to incorporate the industrial look into your kitchen extension include exposed beams, the use of reclaimed wood, metal features, and exposed brickwork.

Create social spaces

When designing your dream kitchen, you need to consider what’s important to you and how your kitchen will work with your lifestyle. Are you the host with the most? Love to invite friends and family over for dinner parties? Then think about how you can incorporate this into the space. We love how this client has created two seating areas in their super luxe kitchen. The open-plan design is also great for social gatherings and our ÜberSlide slimline sliding door helps to create the illusion of a bigger space, as well as providing the ability to open up the kitchen to the garden in the summer months! Anyone for a BBQ?

Contrasting units

This unique thatched cottage extension is the perfect example of when old meets new and it just…works! We love how the owners of this property have contrasted their white kitchen units and grey island, it’s the countryside kitchen of dreams. The rustic timber worktop looks stunning and brings in a warm natural feel to the room, again, adding contrast against the aluminium French doors. As far as dream kitchens go, this one is up there.

Bring light in from above

When it comes to creating a bright and breezy kitchen space, letting in as much natural light as possible is key. Whilst patio doors and windows will help you to achieve this, why not also think about letting in light from above? Rooflights will be sure to add that statement feature to your kitchen extension and light up spaces that may otherwise be in the dark. Here at Kloeber, we offer both pitched and flat rooflights so you can select the best solution for your extension project!

Open up narrow spaces

If your kitchen extension is of a narrow, galley style, then you may be thinking about how to open up your room and create the illusion of a more open space. This is where bifold doors are simply ideal. You can open up a wall of your kitchen to allow for lots of extra natural light, and it also allows you to connect with your garden. If inside space is limited, then you can opt for outward opening bifolds, just like this customer has done. We love the minimalist grey kitchen teamed with the grey aluminium bifolds, the perfect pairing!
