Get to know team Kloeber!
Here’s round four of our ‘Meet the team’ series, so you can get to know a bit more about team Kloeber! Last time, we caught up with our Head of Finance, Lynsey Wilson, and today we’re chatting to our music-loving Logistics Controller, Luke Spooner. Let’s drive straight in…
When did you start working with Kloeber?
I’ve been working at Kloeber for 6 years now
What does a day in the life of a logistics controller look like?
Each day in Logistics is different as we have 3 different sub-departments, Transport, Purchasing & Warehouse. I normally like to start my day with a coffee and replying to some emails. I will then spend most of the day liaising with our factories and our sales team ensuring that all our live orders are where they need to be. There are also other days where I could be helping our team in the warehouse. Every so often, I will go out to visit suppliers along with my manager, Chirs as well.
What advice do you have for someone wanting to get into logistics?
Ensure that you have a keen eye for detail and efficiency. Problem-solving and negotiation skills are extremely useful in logistics as well, as is the ability to think on your feet when under pressure. If you’re confident and have the ability to achieve these skills, then you’ll have no problem at all.
What’s been your career highlight so far?
A specific moment doesn’t spring to mind but when I first started at Kloeber, I was a member of our warehouse team and through the years I have managed to work my way through the ranks in different departments within the company to reach the position I’m in now so I’m quite proud of that.
If you could turn back time and restart your career, would you change anything?
Before working at Kloeber, I did some training with the fire service, I sometimes wonder how that would’ve played out if I had stuck with it.
What would you do with 15 minutes of fame?
I’d love to tee off at Augusta National Golf Club during the Masters tournament.
If you could meet one person (dead or alive) who would it be?
One of the greatest musicians of all time, Dave Grohl
What’s the one thing in life you couldn’t live without?
What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Use the free time you have more wisely and go travel the world more.
Tell us one thing that people aren’t likely to know about you?
I love to collect vinyl records.
