Thinking about giving your home an upgrade with new glazing? One of the key decisions you’ll face is your material choice! Whilst we’re experts in three materials here at Kloeber; timber, aluminium and alu-clad, today we’re focussing on timber with plenty of inspiration to help you with your own project!

Before we take a sneak peek into some lovely homes and installations, let’s firstly take a look at why this material is such a great choice for your home.

Is timber glazing worth it?

There are a few common misconceptions when it comes to timber (we cover some of these in our recent myth busting blog!) and the main concerns are “will the timber warp?” and “will I need to keep repainting it?”. Fortunately, these worries can be put to rest, as thanks to our strong engineered timber and our microporous paint system, our timber products require very little maintenance!

What are the benefits of timber glazing?

Aside from the aesthetic appeal, there are many other benefits to choosing timber doors and windows – here are just a few!

  • It’s strong –  as mentioned, here at Kloeber we use engineered timber – it is stronger and more stable than normal timber and it doesn’t warp! Yippee.
  • It’s versatile – timber doors and windows are suited to both contemporary and more traditional properties
  • It boasts low U-values – timber is more energy-efficient, perfect if you are looking for a more eco-friendly choice that will also help to reduce your carbon footprint
  • It’s naturally insulating – working to keep the warm air in and the cold air out
  • It’s a sustainable choice – did you know that all of our timber is sourced from FSC certified forests?
  • Choose your colour – select from any RAL colour and a wide choice of stains with our timber

Now that we’ve made it pretty clear just how great timber is, let’s take a look at some of our favourite customer installations for further inspiration…

Timber on timber

Our timber bifold doors look great against this timber cladded house! A stunning contemporary pad, we love how this customer chose storm grey to contrast against the natural timber. Teamed with multiple timber fixed glazing panels to allow the light to flood through the home. We approve!

The industrial look

Another great example of how timber can work just as well in modern homes than it can in traditional homes, especially when opting for super slick colours such as black and grey. These timber French doors with glazing bars add an on-trend statement feature to this home, boasting that industrial style look but with all of the benefits of natural timber!

Exterior glow-up

Our timber casement windows really brighten up the exterior of this beautiful property! All of our bespoke wooden flush casement windows come with safety glass, espagnolette locking, lockable handles and easy clean friction hinges as standard. They are also factory finished in any RAL colour of your choice! Will it be bright and white like this home, or perhaps you fancy a pastel shade to mix it up?

Make an entrance

Your front door is one of the most noticeable aspects of your home, and with rising heating costs, it’s definitely worth investing in a door that’s thermally efficient. Our award-winning FunkyFront door ticks all of the boxes – durable, low-maintenance and with customisable design options. We think our timber FunkyFront looks fantastic in this Jet Black, as pictured below. It suits this unique modern property, giving off a steel look but instead with all the benefits you would want from timber!

A classic timber look

This customer has opted for a more classic timber look with a stain as opposed to a RAL colour, and we think it looks great! The natural timber look adds warmth to this minimalist home, giving it a homely feel against the light walls and flooring. The floor tiles leading out onto the patio teamed with the two sets of bifold doors allow this homeowner to really integrate their indoor and outdoor space.

All-white everything

This home teaches us a lesson in country-chic! The fresh white decor teamed with the white French doors makes for a wonderfully elegant interior. The optional glazing bars really finish off the cottagecore-inspired look, and we love how the homeowner has also introduced a rustic wood dining table which really ties in with the theme.

A Klassic look

Looking for a front door that boasts a more traditional aesthetic? Look no further than our timber KlassicFront! Just like our FunkyFront, this timber front door comes with lots of different options for you to create your bespoke front door of dreams. We love the olive colour this customer has gone for, which works fantastically with their period home. Why not have a go at creating your own door with our interactive door design tool?
